Standards for Industrial Ethanol
Appearance and Odor
The product should be clear and transparent with no visible impurities; it should have no peculiar smell, no obvious irritating odor, or other abnormal odors.
Physicochemical Indicators
Ethanol Content: The mass fraction of ethanol (C₂H₅OH) shall be ≥ 95.0% (for premium grade), ≥ 95.0% (for first grade), and ≥ 93.0% (for qualified grade).
Density (at 20°C, g/cm³): Density range is 0.789–0.791 (premium grade), 0.789–0.792 (first grade), and 0.789–0.793 (qualified grade).
Moisture Content: The mass fraction of moisture shall be ≤ 0.5% (premium grade), ≤ 0.5% (first grade), and ≤ 1.0% (qualified grade).
Acidity (calculated as acetic acid, g/L): Acidity shall be ≤ 0.05 (premium grade), ≤ 0.10 (first grade), and ≤ 0.20 (qualified grade).
Non-volatile Residue: The mass fraction of non-volatile residue shall be ≤ 0.002% (premium grade), ≤ 0.002% (first grade), and ≤ 0.005% (qualified grade).
Heavy Metals (calculated as Pb, mg/L): Heavy metal content shall be ≤ 1 mg/L (premium grade), ≤ 1 mg/L (first grade), and ≤ 2 mg/L (qualified grade).
Potassium Permanganate Test (min): The test duration shall be ≥ 30 minutes (premium grade), ≥ 20 minutes (first grade), and ≥ 10 minutes (qualified grade).
