3. Mortar Performance

(1) Mortar water reduction rate corresponds to paste fluidity: higher paste fluidity leads to higher mortar water reduction rate;(2) Water reduction rate increases rapidly with dosage and remains at a high level; at the same dosage, it is approximately 35% higher than that of commercially available high-efficiency water reducers;(3) Concrete water reduction rate may differ from mortar water reduction rate due to the influence of admixtures and aggregate properties: if admixtures and aggregates enhance concrete fluidity, concrete water reduction rate will exceed that of mortar; otherwise, it will be lower;(4) Antifreeze performance at temperatures above -5℃, suitable for use as an antifreeze agent in concrete.

Concrete mixed with powder water reducer has lower bleeding rate and shrinkage rate than the reference concrete; initial setting time is extended by approximately 60 minutes compared to the reference, while final setting time is nearly the same; air content is generally controlled at 2–4%.

Recommended Dosage:

Recommended dosage for concrete: 0.1~0.25% of cement dosage.The water reducer is a powder with polycarboxylate as the main component (solid content ~98%). The normal dosage is 0.12%–0.3%:

At a dosage of only 0.06%, it achieves a 12% water reduction rate and 23% strength growth, outperforming commercially available ordinary pumping agents;

At 0.1% dosage, its performance exceeds that of general naphthalene-based and melamine-based high-efficiency water reducers;

Below 0.14% dosage, the superiority in workability is not significant;

Above 0.20% dosage, concrete workability and pumpability reach an excellent level.

Optimal recommended dosage: 0.12–0.24%.For high-strength concrete, concrete with high-volume fly ash/slag powder, or concrete with special requirements, dosage can be increased to over 0.3% (but generally not exceeding 0.5%). Tests show that at 0.5% dosage, concrete does not experience cohesion loss or aggregate-paste segregation, water reduction rate continues to rise, but air content increases, setting is delayed, and strength decreases slightly.
