Application of Calcium Formate
As a new feed additive (especially for weaned piglets), calcium formate affects intestinal microbial proliferation, activates pepsinogen, improves energy utilization of metabolites, increases feed conversion rate, prevents diarrhea, and boosts piglet survival rate and daily weight gain. It also has preservative effects.
Tests confirm that calcium formate releases trace formic acid in animals, lowering gastrointestinal pH (with a buffering effect to stabilize pH), inhibiting harmful bacteria, promoting beneficial microbial growth, protecting intestinal mucosa from toxins, and controlling bacterial diarrhea. The recommended dosage is 1–1.5%.
