An important industrial production method for sodium formate uses coke as raw material. The process involves gas generation, dedusting, water washing, decarbonization, and re-dedusting to obtain the required carbon monoxide gas. After desulfurization and compression, the carbon monoxide is fed into a reactor containing 20%~30% sodium hydroxide solution, where it reacts at 160~200°C and 2 MPa to form sodium formate. The resulting solution is then evaporated, separated, and dried to obtain solid sodium formate product.
Gas Generation: Coke is lifted to the top of the gas generator by an electric hoist and fed into the furnace. Inside the furnace, incomplete combustion of coke with air blown in by a fan produces a mixed gas containing carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen.
