AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – With roads currently covered in ice in Western Massachusetts, what is the best way to melt the ice on your driveways?
        If you’re familiar with using rock salt for snow, there’s a new product that gives even better results in cold weather. Calcium chloride has become increasingly popular over the past few years due to its ability to melt at sub-zero temperatures, and this is not its only advantage.
        Bob Parent of Rocky’s Ace Hardware in Agawam emphasizes other benefits of using calcium chloride: “You’ll use less calcium chloride than rock salt if you watch it. It will not damage our carpets or leave marks on them. your carpets are in your house.”
       These characteristics do come with an increase in price, in many cases double the price of traditional rock salt.
