1.Propionic Acid Raw Material Preparation
The raw materials for the acetylene process include acetylene, oxygen, and water. Acetylene is obtained from refineries or chemical plants, while oxygen is sourced from air separation units.
2. Reaction Process
Pretreatment: Acetylene and oxygen are pretreated separately to suitable temperatures to ensure the reaction proceeds smoothly.
Carbonylation Reaction: The pretreated acetylene and oxygen are mixed and subjected to a carbonylation reaction in the presence of a catalyst. This step occurs under high temperature and pressure conditions, typically at 180–200°C and 0.8–1.2 MPa.
