In the production of electronic-grade copper foil, oxalic acid acts as a micro-etchant to create uniform roughness on the copper foil surface, improving adhesion to resin substrates. Replacing traditional persulfate systems reduces the concentration of heavy metal ions in wastewater by approximately 40%, alleviating end-of-treatment pressure. Furthermore, oxalic acid is used to adjust the pH of metal polishing pastes and serves as an active ingredient in wood bleaches. Its by-product, iron oxalate, can be recycled and resold to pigment factories, forming a circular economic chain.
