Sodium Formate Process Overview
The process uses coke as the raw material. After gasification, dust removal, water washing, decarbonization, and re-dedusting, the required carbon monoxide gas is obtained. It is then heated and pressurized to react with sodium hydroxide to form a sodium formate solution, which is subsequently evaporated, separated, and dried to produce solid sodium formate. The key steps are described below:
1. Gasification
Coke is lifted to the upper part of the gasifier using an electric hoist and fed into the furnace. Inside the furnace, coke undergoes incomplete combustion with air blown in by the fan, producing a mixture of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and other gases. The main reactions include:
