3. Sodium Formate Compression
The purified mixed gas enters a compressor for two-stage compression, boosting the pressure to 2.0–2.2 MPa. After passing through an oil-water separator, it enters a mixer, where it mixes with the lye from the preheater. At a certain temperature and pressure, the lye reacts with most of the carbon dioxide, removing it and obtaining the carbon monoxide gas required for the process. The main compression reactions include:
CO₂ + 2NaOH → Na₂CO₃ + H₂O
CO₂ + NaOH → NaHCO₃
4. Sodium Formate Synthesis
The carbon monoxide gas and nitrogen from the previous step are heated to 140–150°C and fed into a synthesis reactor. In the reactor, carbon monoxide reacts with sodium hydroxide to form a sodium formate solution. The mixture of sodium formate solution, nitrogen, and trace carbon monoxide gas is depressurized and then sent to a cyclone separator for gas-liquid separation. The sodium formate solution is pumped into a storage tank for standby use, while the mixed gas is safely discharged into the atmosphere.
